˙ţUnderstanding the Proof of Global Warming

from: Ancient Hippy

Global warming is a term which is used to refer to the increase in the average temperature of the Earth s surface, and it is an issue which has come into great debate and controversy, especially over recent years in particular. Although there are of course those critics who believe that the entire global warming concept is in fact a fraud, there is still the proof of global warming that remains, and of which is incredibly important to recognize and take into consideration in order to have an informed understanding of the matter overall.

The Various Proof of Global Warming

Over the years scientists have used many different means and methods in order to come up with proof of global warming, and in particular, powerful evidence for global warming was discovered by scientists funded by the United States government in the year 2004, as a new analysis of satellite data actually revealed that temperature in a critical part of the atmosphere are rising much faster than previously thought, thus resulting in strengthening the scientific consensus that the world is warming at an unnatural rate.

Basically, while it is generally accepted that surface temperatures of the Earth are increasing by an average of 0.17C per decade, satellites have been unable to detect a parallel trend in the troposphere, which is the lowest level of the atmosphere, extending 7.5 miles above the ground, in which most weather occurs.

More Proof of Global Warming

There are even more instances of proof of global warming, including a new report that was completed recently, which was based on an analysis of infrared long-wave radiation data from two different space missions. The unique satellite spectrometer data that was collected 27 years apart shows for the first time that real spectral differences have been observed, and that they can be attributed to changes in greenhouse gases over a long time period.

The Premise of Global Warming

Basically, as the sun s radiation hits the Earth s surface, it is reemitted as infrared radiation, and then this radiation is then partly trapped by the so-called greenhouse gases, which are: carbon dioxide, methane, and chlorofluorocarbons, as well as water vapor. Satellites are able to measure changes in the infrared radiation spectrum, and this ends up resulting in allowing scientists to be able to detect changes in the Earth s natural greenhouse effect and also to be able to deduce which greenhouse gas concentrations have changed in general.
