˙ţThe Facts About Global Warming

from: Ancient Hippy

There are many facts about global warming which are discussed and debated among the experts . Most scientists can agree on general evidence supporting the basic facts about global warming, but as some argue that these changes have come about due human causes, some argue that this is a natural course of the earth s evolution.

Some Basic Evidence

There are some facts about global warming that can be measured. This evidence includes the fact that the level of carbon dioxide and methane in the earth s atmosphere has increased to the highest point in six hundred fifty thousand years. Another fact about global warming is the increased rate of glaciers and sea ice melting. Warming that is bleaching coral is causing destruction of our oceans and tropical diseases are spreading at faster rates.

Greenhouse Gases

Among the facts about global warming is the cause of the warming. Greenhouse gases cover the atmosphere and trap the sun s heat. Carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide are emissions that cause greenhouse gases. Burning fossil fuels is a fact about global warming that is the cause of most carbon dioxide emissions. We burn fossil fuels when we drive our cars and generate electricity in power plants. Reducing these emissions is the most important reason everyone needs to know the facts about global warming.

Research And Education

Everyone should research and the facts about global warming for themselves. Use the Internet for research and try to start conversations at home and at work. The more we are all aware of the facts about global warming the better prepared we can be to make better choices for our energy needs.

We Can All Help

We can all help reduced the pollutants released everyday by changing our transportation choices, changing our light bulbs, use renewable energy sources and conserving paper products.

Automobiles cause twenty percent of United States carbon dioxide emissions. The United States is the world s larges consumer of oil. We could reduce our dependence on oil by carpooling, using public transportation, building bike paths and just driving less.

Using alternate renewable sources of energy would reduce the need for traditional coal burning power plants. Renewable sources of energy include wind and solar power. After converting this power to electricity it could then be used to power our transportation, such as cars and buses, also.

Another thing we can all do is vote for government representatives who will promote clean renewable energy alternatives.
