Father & Son Duo Fight Plastic Pollution One Bag at a Time

Denver, CO (PRWEB) July 25, 2007 — The idea for Dave and Ryan Beaumonts Earthsack, a reusable, all natural cotton bag, started with Earth Day. The father and son team wanted to find a realistic way to help reduce the number of plastic bags that find their way into landfills and waterways.
Ryan Beaumont, who is now 7-years-old, plans to introduce the Earthsack to every adult he encounters in his school and activity groups. “These bags are great,” said Ryan exuberantly. “You can help the environment and earn bag credit money at a lot of stores all at the same time. Everybody wins with an Earthsack. Just use it over and over again. Its easy!”
Dave & Ryan tracked down a company in the Midwest to imprint 100 percent cotton sacks that they called Earthsacks. Dave added, “If people can simply change their shopping habits and reuse their bags, it would drastically reduce the amount of plastics found in our air, land and oceans. The Earthsack is a simple and effective reminder that we need to change our habits in order to change our future.”
“500 billion plastic bags are distributed worldwide each year,” Dave said. “Most of these bags end up in landfills where they take over 1,000 years to photo-degrade while releasing toxic greenhouse gases into our atmosphere. Billions of plastic bags wind up in our oceans where birds and marine life mistake the plastic for food. The amount of damage plastic can do to our ecosystem is enormous. Plastic bags exist forever. They dont ever biodegrade. We cant fix what weve done, but we can pass along better habits to our next generation.”
